Abstract Bi-MCM-41 with different silica source were synthesized by hydrothermal method with(Na_2SiO_39H_2O),TEOS and colloidal silica as silica source, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as template,(Bi(NO_3)_35H_2O) as metal source, and oxidation of styrene with hydrogen peroxide to benzaldehyde was investigated. The nature of the catalysts was discussed based on the characterization results of XRD and UV-Vis.It was indicated that the samples with(Na_2SiO_39H_2O) and TEOS as silica soucre had high ordering structures and Bismuth was highly dispersed in the mesostructure frameworks.Bi-MCM-41 was found to have good catalytivity in the oxidation of styrene to benzaldehyde with hydrogen peroxide as oxidant and methanol as solvent. The influence of different silica source on the oxidation activity of Bi-MCM-41 had also been discussed.
