Abstract In order to investigate the effects of magnetic field on the liquid-liquid extraction,the extraction process of acetone-water-methyl isobutyl ketone system was studied under magnetic field with different magnetic induction intensities.The results show that the positive effect of magnetic field exists in the extraction process and that partition coefficient k_A and yield of acetone �P_A increase with the increments of magnetic induction intensities.The quantitative account shows that the partition coefficient of acetone k_A is increased by 5.29%��8.31% and the yield of acetone �P_A is increased by 1.76%��3.41% under the influence of magnetic field with magnetic induction intensity of 0.17��0.52 T.Some effects of temperature on extraction process were seen in the experiments.The effects of magnetic field on the extraction were intensified when temperature increased.The experimental data were correlated by the method of regression analysis and the correlations equation of partition coefficient of acetone k_A were obtained.
