Abstract The catalytic activities of perovskite LaCoO_3 and that after pre-sulfurized in the reduction of SO_2 by CO were analyzed.It was found that the pre-sulfurized catalyst LaCoO_3 can observably decrease the starting reaction temperature and the complete conversion temperature.The sulfurization process of perovskite LaCoO_3 was discussed by XRD.The phase transformation of catalysts was investigated.The results showed that the catalysts were the mixture of La_2O_2S,CoS_2,La_2(SO_4)_3 and La_2O_3.
