Abstract The main intermediate of 5-chloro-2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-1-one in the synthesis of indoxacarb was synthesized in this paper.The title compound was synthesized from 3-chlorobenzyl chloride,through nucleophilic reaction,hydrolyzation,decarboxylation,acyl chloride reaction and Friedel-Crafts acylation reaction in overall yield of 42%.
