Abstract Rare earth strontium aluminate luminescent polymer composites are currently the most widely used luminescent materials. They can be used to make marine luminous fibers and are expected to solve the problems of underwater operations in deep sea and dark conditions. This article mainly reviews the research progress of rare earth strontium aluminate in polymers such as polypropylene, polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, polymethyl methacrylate and polyurethane, and describes the effect of rare earth strontium aluminate on polymerization. The influence of the physical and mechanical properties and luminescence characteristics of the polymer composite material clarifies the application prospects of the polymer luminescence composite material in the field of underwater operations.
