Abstract Gasliquid separation element, the most important part in the hot desalination process, plays an important role in eliminating saline fogy droplets in the steam and ensures the quality of product waterOptimizing the structure of separation element and operating condition can enlarge the separating capacity, improve efficiency, increase the quality of product water and decrease the cost of productionIn this paper, the characteristics of the waveplate mist eliminator and wire mesh eliminator applied in desalination process of sea water were reviewed. The progress and some application cases in desalination plant were introduced and the prospect was proposed.
