Abstract BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+(BAM)blue phosphors were synthesized by high temperature solid state reaction. The influences of composite fluxes, such as H3BO3+BaF2, H3BO3+AlF3and BaF2+AlF3, on phase purity, particle morphology and luminescent properties of blue phosphors were investigated. The results indicated that samples fluxed by H3BO3+BaF2had better performance to form pure phase, particle size and particle shape and luminescence intensities than those fluxed by H3BO3+AlF3 and BaF2+AlF3, the performance is close to that of commercial blue phosphor of a company.
