Abstract The effect of volume fraction of the separation mixture on bed density and separation effciency were investigated experimentally from measurement of bed density by means of pressure transmitter and analysis of particle distribution in a vibrated fluidized bed.It was shown that while the upper limit of volume fraction was about 20%,particle mixture might be significantly separated in a vibrated fluidized bed. It was also found that separation efficiency is a little higher in vibration condition than that in non vibration condition. This study would be useful to the process of segregation of fine coke slag mixture and dry beneficiation.
