Abstract
The reactor for the synthesising cumene by liquid phase alkylation over zeolite catalyst was designed and optimized by simulation with a model. The influence of feeding ways on the alkylation was investigated and the suitable operating conditions were determined. The results showed that three section adiabatic fixed bed reactor with external recycle is suit for the alkylation, and propylene is split equally into three streams and fed into each section respectively while benzene is fed in one stream. The recycle liquid needs to be returned to the reactor inlet totally and assures turbulent flowing within the reactor. The suritable operating conditions were proposed as follows:temperature 150180, pressure 3 0MPa,feeding molar ratio of benzene to propylene 6/1,benzene WHSV 4h -1 ,recycle ratio 6.
