Abstract�� The basic principle of supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO_2) microemulsion and its development were reviewed in this paper.Meanwhile, the structure and properties of surfactants,which can form supercritical carbon dioxide microemulsions were also introduced. Moreover, the application of SC-CO_2 microemulsions to the field of extraction of biochemicals and metal ions, chemical reaction, synthesis of nanomaterials and dying were also discussed.The prospect of SC-CO_2 microemulsions was proposed.
