Abstract In order to establish the correlation between total amortized investment cost of distillation unit and reflux ratio, the correlation between reflux ratio and number of plates will be the first to be discussed in this paper.
The new correlation easy for solving dN/dR is established on the basis of Eduljee's correlation and is presented as follows Nm/N=1-B[1-(R-Rm/R+1)~β] This is compared with other correlations. The maximum deviation of this correlation covering the calculations in this paper is ±9%. Considering the situations in our country, we find separately the correlation of investment cost of distillation tower and heat exchangers versus reflux ratio and that of annuat operational cost versus reflux ratio. Then in terms of these cost correlations we can establish the correlation of total amortized investment cost versus reflux ratio and express it as follows C_T=φ(R+1)~(u/2){[1-B(1-R-Rm/R+1)~β]~(-1)+H_sE/N_mh}+ω(R+1)~ε+ψ(R+1) Differentiating this equation with respect to reflux ratio, we can solve for the economic reflux ratio (R_3) of distillation unit on a computer by trial-and-error method. |
