Abstract La 0 8 Sr 0 2 CoO 3 complex oxide has been synthesized at moderate temperature by organic acid aided method.XRD result shows that La 0 8 Sr 0 2 CoO 3 synthesized by this method has perovskite structure of single phase.It was revealed from steady state polarization that the Tafel slope of oxygen evolution on La 0 8 Sr 0 2 CoO 3 was 65mV/dec and the reaction order with respect to OH was unity.The rate equation for oxygen evolution in alkaline solution was formulated after analyzed the mechanism.Galvanostatic measurements reveal the La 0 8 Sr 0 2 CoO 3/Ni electrode prepared by this method has high electrocatalytic activity for oxygen evolution in alkaline solution.
