Abstract In this paper,a new type microbial electrode by immobilizing the microbiomass,which is used to detect the activity of the microbiomass in wastewater biotreatment,has mainly been studied.Submit an origiral idea,based on which,the activity of the dominant enzyme was used to represent the whole microbia's activity.The existence and species of the dominant enzyme in the microbial living in different kinds of wastewater were certified based on research in areobic microbial film,and it was also found that the activity of the dominant enzyme changed,as soon as its living environment had been changed.The relationship between the volumetic load removal capacity and the acivity of electrode has been investigated.The results show the feasibility of using microbial electrode in wastewater biotreatment engineering.
