Abstract The basic operating requirements of sour water stripping tower are presented through analyzing the properties of solutions containing volatile weak electrolytes,such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide.An algorithm is developed for simulating stripping tower of sour water.Phase equilibrium equation is calculated using the modified model by us.The calculation of liquid enthalpy,unlike the calculation of vapor enthalpy,is developed.Three industries stripping towers are simulated using the new relaxation method successfully,including Fushun Petrochemical Co.Ltd.and Nanjin Refinery.The calculating results are quite agreement with plant operating data.
