Abstract This paper reports the method of coating enzymes with surfactants to improve their activity and stability when used in organic solvents.The synthesis of surfactant and preparation of the surfactant-coated enzymes are introduced.The effects of surfactant types,enzyme origins,organic solvents,temperature,pH and water content in the system on enzyme activity are reviewed and the directions for further study are discussed.
