Abstract A review on supported gold catalysts is given in this paper. Three factors are important in the catalysts, i.e., type of metal oxide supports, size of the gold particales and the strength of interaction between the gold particles and supports. Depostions-precipitation and co-precipitation are better methods than impregnation to prepare catalysts comprising fine gold particles and to provide the desired intimacy of contact between gold and supports. Low-temperature CO oxidation and propylene epoxidation over supported gold catalysts are discussed.
