Abstract In this paper,synthesis methods of nanometer spinel compound oxides were summarized including physical and chemical methods.Moreover,chemical synthesis methods were emphasized.It contained precipitation method (that is direct precipitation method,homogeneous precipitation method and co-precipitation method),sol-gel method,hydrothermal synthesis method and chemical gas-phase deposition method.The advantages and disadvantages of every method were compared,too.At the same time,the applications of nanometer spinel compound oxides were also introduced.They can be used as pigments,magnetism materials,catalysis materials and camouflage materials and also applied in life and production.Nanometer spinel compound oxides are a type of important inorganic materials.
