Application of Polyampholyte in High Turbidity Water of Huanghe River

Abstract In this paper,various charge densities acrylamide-based polyampholytes [the copolymer of acrylamide(AM),dimethyldiallylammonium chloride(DMDAAC) and acrylic acid(AA)] were synthesized.The influence of ratio of cationic and anionic monomers on molecular weight of ampholytic polyelectrolytes and influence of cationic and anionic content in ampholytic polyelectrolytes on flocculation effects have been investigated.These polyelectrolytes were applied to treatment of the high turbidity water of the Huanghe River as a flocculant,this practical application is the first test in our country.The results show that inter isoelectric point range of polyampholytes,its function is much better than the convention flocculants,such as non-ionic,cationic or anionic flocculants.
