Abstract Progress on catalytic partial oxidation of methane to syngas was reviewed.Two main mechanisms of oxidation were recommended,i.e.direct oxidation and indirect oxidation.Attention was given to Ni��supported catalysts.The characteristics of fixed bed reactor,fluidized bed reactor,membrane reactor and other reactors which were developed recently were summarized.
