Abstract To overcome the shortcomings of the nature rubber pressure sensitive adhesives(PSAs) used in the present transdermal drug delivery systems(TDDs) of traditional Chinese medicine,the preparation and characteristic of hydrophilic polyurethane pressure sensitive adhesives(HPPSAs) were studied. The HPPSAs were synthesized by the condensation copolymerization of polymer glycol, diisocyanate and extender. Especially, polyethylene glycol(PEG) on the main chain of the polyurethane can offer good hydrophilicity. The experiment results indicated that the HPSAs synthesized in this paper could provide excellent adhesive strength and repeating sticking properties, and also good compatibility with drug and skin, which can promote drug releasing property.
