Abstract Monomethoxypoly(ethylene glycol)-grafted-chitosan(mPEG-g-CS) can be prepared by the grafting of aldehyded monomethoxypoly(ethylene glycol) (mPEG) to the 2-amino functions of chitosan. The obtained mPEG-g-CS products are water-soluble.Elemental analysis,IR spectroscopy and TEM were used to characterize the properties of the grafted products.The results indicate the prepared mPEG-g-CS can self-assemble into micelles in aqueous solution,which presents different rheological property from chitosan.
