Abstract The simulation of extractive distillation for methanol-acetone binary azeotrope with extractive solvents of water and monoethanolamine(MEA) was made by the soft ware of HYSYS model version 2.2.The simulation under different conditions,the position of feed-stage,the ratio of extract solvent to feed,the reflux ratio and the temperature of extract solvents,was made for optimizing the operation parmeters.Through practical experiments and comparison of data between simulation and expriment,the reliability of simulation was testified.In addition,according to the comparison of the performance of extractive distillation between water and MEA,the extractive effect of MEA is much better than that of water.
