Abstract Mud iron is the waste during the production of dyestuff and its crystal is Fe_3O_4.Producing red iron oxide from mud iron by supercritical water oxidation(SCWO) was proposed in this paper.The experiment showed that the quality of product produced by SCWO before calcinating,was obviously better than that of calcinating red iron directly and the crystal of product was not affected by reaction pressure.Therefore it is feasible and potential to produce red iron oxide from mud iron by SCWO.
