Abstract Immobilization of AlCl_3 on H/mordenite(HM) had been carried out.The catalytic properties of the immobilized catalyst systems for isopropylation of naphthalene were studied and compared with the catalytic performance of AlCl_3/HM and HM. The influence of the ratio of naphthalene to isopropanol,WHSV and reaction temperature were investigated for this reaction.The optimum conditions of this reaction in fixed-bed flow reactor were obtained.Immobilization of aluminum chloride on mesoporous silica is a promising way of developing alternative catalyst system for Friedel-Crafts alkylation reactions.
