Abstract Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium data for trifluoroacetic acid(TFA)-acetone system was measured at(101.33 kPa) by using a small equilibrium cell. The results show that TFA and acetone system can form a maximum boiling azeotrope.Thermodynamic consistency of the experimental data was confirmed by means of Herington method. The data was then correlated and calculated by Wilson equation and Vanlaar equation respectively.Average relative deviations between the caculated values and the experimental data of gas mole fraction were all less than(0.031 4).By Wilson equation the azeotropic boiling point for the experimental system was identified to be(77.62 ℃),and the azeotropic mole fraction of acetone is(0.245 9.) These agree well with the experimental data.
