Abstract The preparation methods and the mechanism of high-surface-area molybdenum nitride are summarized.The effects of preparation conditions,including velocity of gas feed,heating rate,nitriding temperature and time on the structure and hydrodesulfurization activity are discussed.And the effects of various alternative treatment,the support,the composition of auxiliary catalysts on its hydrodesulfurization activity are analyzed.
