Abstract The zeolite catalysts for the removal of olefins were prepared using H,HY and steam-pretreated HY zeolites as the active components. The effects of zeolite kinds, acidity and steam pretreatment time on the properties of olefins-removal were studied. The results showed that the surface acidity of the catalysts had significant effect on the olefin-removing performance.Bronsted acid was the primary active center and Lewis acid was auxiliary, while excessive acid density would result in the acceleration of coking and deactivation of catalyst.Steam pretreatment could effectively improve the surface acid amount and acidic strength, prolonging the catalyst's single-run life to 6 times of clay. The olefin-removal zeolite catalyst had higher coke-store capability. The coke on the surface of the catalyst was light and the catalyst was easily regenerable.
