Abstract Dioctyl phthalate(DOP) was synthesized by self-made catalyst of solid acid SO~(2-)_4/SnO_2.The influence, such as the concentration of vitriol acid, graininess of catalyst, the temperature and time of activation, etc,on the activity of catalyst were analyzed. The results showed the best technical operation conditions are as follows: when vitriol oil is 3.2 mol/L,130 mesh of graininess, temperature of activation 500 ℃,time of activation 5 h,the DOP productivity can be above 95%.Because SO~(2-)_4/SnO_2,as the catalyst, has characteristic of high catalytic activity,long-term reusability, product easily separated with better color and luster,it has some advantages of taking the place of oil of vitriol to catalyze the synthesis of DOP.
