Abstract Styrene is an important organic raw material for chemical industry. Normally it is made by dehydrogenization of ethyl benzene at adiabatic and vacuum conditions. Because of its low relative volatility with other components in system and its heat sensitivity, the separation difficulties and energy consumption are increased. At the present time, it has accumulated much experience for the technical reform of EB/SM fractionating system both at home and abroad. This paper mainly introduces the technique in this area.
