Rheology Numerical Simulation of Viscoelastic Fluid in SiC Foam

Abstract In order to study the rheological behavior of viscoelastic fluid in new SiC foam, network structure model based on the array of tetradecahedral units was established for skeleton of SiC foam. Computation fluid software-POLYFLOW was adopted to analyze the model numerically with PTT constitutive equation for viscoelastic fluid. It was mainly studied that the variation of the normal stress and shear stress acted on polymer solution by skeleton of SiC foam with different relaxation time, the pore size and flow rate, and the distribution characteristics of the shear rate. It was found that the bigger the vicoelasticity of polymer solution, the greater the stress, the greater the chance of mechanical degradation for polymer solution.
