Abstract 1,3-Butadiene is an important organic chemical raw material, and is a monomer of synthetic rubber,the production methods of 1,3-butadiene from ethanol was reviewed, and which could be classified as one-step and two-step method. Then the research status of the catalysts for the two methods was briefly introduced, and possible reaction mechanisms were discussed. In the end, problems in preparation process of ethanol into butadiene were summarized, and the future development was also given.
