Abstract The kinetics of the photoisomerization of norbornadiene in the circulation reactor was investigated in the absence of solvent, with norbornadiene as raw materials and with 4,4’bis(diethylamino) benzophenone as the triplet sensitizer. The results show that the concentration of norbornadiene drops quickly in the earlier stage, while it drops slowly in the later stage. The reaction rate can be expressed with a firstorder reaction kinetics equation. The activation energy is 29 173 J/mol and the preexponential factor is 1026 min-1.
