Abstract It is an effective way to increase transmission capacity of pipelines by adding drag reduction agent in oil of pipeline. Drag reduction agent was synthesized by bulk polymerization using ZiegleNatta catalysts and mixed 1octene/1decene/1dodecene as monomers, drag reducing efficiency was evaluated by the simulative loop evaluation apparatus. The intrinsic viscosity of polymer was measured by the Ubbelodhe viscometer, and according MarkHouwink equation the viscosityaverage molecular weight was calculated as 6 629 759 Orthogonal experiment was used to determine the synthetic conditions of polymers, the optimum technological conditions were as following: V(1octene)∶V(1decene)∶V(1dodecene)=1∶4∶5, dosage of TiCl4/MgCl2 was 015 g, TIBA was 15 mL, and the drag reducing efficiency of the ploymers was 5325%. The prepared polymer was characterized by IR, XRD,1HNMR, and the results show that the polymer is well polymerized and has industrial value.
