Indirect Determination of Barium by Acid-Base Titration

Abstract An acid-base titration method is proposed for the lndirect determination of barium.It is based on the fact that Ba��2+ reacts with K_2Cr_2O_7 solution to form a yellow precipitate of BaCrO_4 and the free H��+ can then be titrated with standard NaOH solution.The method is simple and rapid. This method has been used in the determination of barium in barium salts and barite with satisfactory results.
