Abstract The conditions of colour reaction of cadmium with 1- (2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol-sulfonic acid have been studied. The maximum absorbance of complex is at wave length of 536nm, its apparent molar absorptivty is 2. 910 4 L. mol-1 Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range of 050g/25ml, for cadmium. The common metal ions canbe separated by sulfhydryl cotton fiber with high selectivity. The method has been used to determine microamounts of cadmium in discharged water with satisfactiry results. |
