Abstract�� This paper presents experimental investigations on the heat transfer parameters for fixed beds.Analyses show that the length dependence of heat transfer parameters reflects the failure of two dimensional homogeneous model in predicting the temperature distribution in the thermal inlet section of the bed,and can not be compensated for by introducing axial conductive term into the model or by taking the inlet boundary condition of parabola type.The axial conductive term makes no contribution to the evaluation of heat transfer parameters or to the prediction of temperature profiles in fixed beds.So the PF model is superior to the ADPF model for simplicity in calculation.These conclusions suggest that the reliable heat transfer parameters must be obtained by taking asymptotic values among those under different bed lengths.
