Abstract�� In this paper,the advances in the understanding of the mechanical properties of solid catalyst are reviewed.The mechanics basis of catalyst,such as the failure of mechanical strength,the statistics and the correlation of strength data,is introduced.The concept of solid catalyst mechanical reliability is given.Further,it has been proposed that the goal of catalyst mechanics study is to form a mechanical reliability model of a catalyst bed.
