Abstract:
An efficient Lewis acid/base catalyst composed of zinc chloride and trihexyl(tetradecyl)phosphonium bromide ionic liquid was developed and showed surprisingly high activities for the coupling reaction of CO2 and epoxides. The effects of reaction temperature,CO2 pressure, time and various compositions of the catalyst have been investigated systematically.A high PC yield(95%)could be reached at 100 ℃ with a low CO2 pressure(2 MPa)for 15 min in the presence of [(C6H13)3P(C14H29)]Br/ZnCl2 (molar ratio is 2∶1).The catalyst was also applicable to the coupling reaction of CO2 and other epoxides. At the end,a possible reaction mechanism of the catalyst was proposed.
