Abstract:
Supercritical CO 2 extraction of corn germ oil was investigated with a laboratory apparatus. Extraction experiments were designed by response surface methodology(RSM) and conducted at different levels of extraction pressure, temperature and particle size. Effects of the extraction parameters on CO 2 consumption at 90% oil yield of were evaluated. Response function was developed and fitted to experimental data. Compositions of germ oils prepared by SC-CO 2 extraction, Soxhlet extraction with hexane and cold pressing were also analysed and compared.
