Abstract:
Homogeneous membrane of polyimide (PI) was employed in pervaporation to separate benzene—cyclohexane mixture. Flux rates and compositions of permeant liquid were measured. High selectivity for benzene has been found. Pervaporation flux depends upon the value of equilibrium solubility. The dependence of penetrant concentration in the membrane upon the diffusion coefficients may be expressed by an expoential equation under a certain limitation. Thus, we obtain plasticization factors r , which are compared with the calculated results of intercoordinate factors of bezene—PI membrane. We have found that Arrhenius equations is valid in expressing the relationship between temperature and K, flux rates, solubilities and diffusivities respectively.
