Abstract
The inert gas stripping and gas chromatograph method has been used to determine the activity coefficients at infinite dilution. The method involves modifying the construction of equilibrium cell to enlarge the gas-liquid interface and to increase the contact time between gas and liquid phases; using a double cell scheme: in front of the equilibrium cell, setting a presaturation cell filling with pure solvent to minimize the losses of solvent in the equilibrium cell. With this method the vapor-liquid equilibrium is established and the amount of solvent is constant in the cell. In the calculation of experimental results the amount of solvent vapor in the outlet gas stream of the cell was taken into account. The accuracy of experimental results is reliable.
