Abstract�� The studies on the fluid mechanics,heat and mass transfer and power consumption of the agitated thin-film evaporators are reviewed.It should be pointed that the more extensive and intensive study on the evaporation mechanism of the agitated thin-film evaporators is necessary because the basic design data are lack up-to-date.It is suggested that a new method should be applied of combining both the \!active\" method and \!passive\" method used in heat transfer enhancement together,in order to use the power of the rotor blades more effectively for the enhancement of this evaporation process.
