Abstract�� In this paper,the basic principles of super-hydrophobic surfaces are outlined from two aspects by introducing materials of low surface energy and rough surface of coatings respectively.The preparation technology and the new development of super-hydrophobic coatings are reviewed,and application of super-hydrophobic coatings is proposed.
