Abstract�� In the preparation of 4-amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidine from 4-amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidone and ammonia,Raney-Co was used as catalyst instead of Raney-Ni and the by-production of 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidinol was avoided.The ratio of cobalt to aluminium and the reaction parameters were investigated systematically.Under optimum conditions,the yield of 4-amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidine is up to 98% and the catalysts show good stability.
