Abstract�� This paper mainly introduces the operating principles of cerium oxide and cerium mixed oxide solid solution as oxygen storage materials in three-way catalysts of automobiles,and also demonstrates the effects of preparation methods on the structures and properties of the catalysts.Meanwhile,it summarizes the recent progress in CeO_2,Ce_xZr_(1-x)O_2(CZ) and RE_yCe_xZr_(1-x-y)O_2(RECZ,RE=rare earths).Furthermore,this article proposes the research emphasis and the developing tendency in the future.
