Abstract�� Solubility is the key data for crystallization to investigate the optimum condition and to determine the theoretical yield.With a laser monitoring observation technique,the solubility and metastable zone of ammonium sulfate in water and sulfuric acid solution with different pH were measured at 283 K��360 K under atmosphere pressure.The effect of pH and temperature on the solubility and metastable zone was discussed. Furthermore,by using these thermodynamic data,the effects of pH on the crystallizing process of ammonium sulfate were analyzed.The solubility data were correlated with an empirical equation,and it was found that empirical equation was able to correlate the solubility data very well.
