Abstract Using Hainan kaolin as raw material to prepare alumina powder can reduce the cost, improve the kaolin's additional value, and have significance role to Hainan economic development. Orthogonal experiment was carried out to study the influence of concentration of HCl,the temperature of acid and drygelatin calcining temperature on the leaching rate of alumina and the crystallinity. The experimental results show that dry-gelatin calcining temperature has the greatest influence. The optimization of the leac- hing yield of alumina and crystallinity can be achieved when the temperature of acid at 95 ,reacted within HCl of 333 mg /L,and dry-gelatin calcining temperature of 950 .
